MY SPECIALTIES
I believe people are unique individuals that possess gifts, talents, and abilities and when discovered and developed, individuals become empowered to gain more control of their own lives.
TRAUMA
Trauma can result from exposure to a single incident or series of events that are emotionally disturbing or life-threatening and can lead to lasting adverse effects on an individual's functioning and mental, physical, social, emotional, and/or spiritual well-being. Trauma can leave clients feeling alone as they navigate coping with daily life.
I work with clients as they navigate fear, anxiety, depression, interpersonal relationship difficulties, difficulty managing emotions, ongoing and often unexplained physical concerns, feelings of worthlessness and hopelessness, and feeling disconnected as a result of trauma.
LIFE TRANSITIONS & DIFFICULT SEASONS
Life transitions can impact your life in significant ways. Transitions can involve exciting changes, distressing ones, or even just milestones. I help clients navigate life transitions and difficult seasons with setting goals and realistic expectations, developing routines, and practicing self-compassion.
EMOTIONAL ABUSE
Clients who have experienced emotional abuse can lose their sense of self and personal value. Emotional abuse cuts to the very core of a person and can create scars that are deep and long lasting. I provide a safe and non-judgmental space for clients to rebuild and restore themselves so they can move forward and engage in a healthy relationship with their “self” and others.
BLENDED FAMILIES & COPARENTING
Often navigating the waters of different rules, parenting techniques, and new relationships can cause chaos and unstable households for both parents and children. Often times the other parents involved can also exasperate the situation. Working with a counselor to learn new tools and techniques for creating a unique blended family can help make this transition easier for everyone involved.
ANXIETY
Anxiety is a natural stress response when we are afraid or worried and can interfere with day-to-day life, work or school performance, as well as our relationships with others. I work with clients to help them better understand and manage their symptoms that are creating harmful thinking patterns, leading to negative thoughts and feelings.
DEPRESSION
Depressed emotions can be a normal, adaptive human response to stress and suffering. However, when a low mood becomes persistent, it can impact daily life, relationships, employment, and achievement. I work with clients to get back on track, tap into their motivation, and set goals.
HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS
Healthy relationships involve honesty, trust, respect, boundaries, and open communication between partners and they take effort and compromise between both people. I work with individuals and couples to assist in developing the tools necessary for the overall well-being both of the individuals.
DIVORCE
I work with individuals and couples who are contemplating divorce or are wanting to move forward after a divorce. Divorce can include feeling hurt, shattered, lost and confused. I work with clients to explore, recognize, and resolve conflict individually or together as they process emotions, communicate their needs, and rebuild their lives.
EXECUTIVE FUNCTIONING
Executive function are mental skills that allow us to complete tasks and interact with others., When executive functioning is disordered, it disrupts a person’s ability to manage their own thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I work with clients with the aim at helping people to develop and learn strategies to improve attention, manage their emotions, organize and plan activities, and reflect on and change their approaches.
FAITH-BASED COUNSELING
For some clients, their Christian faith is an integral part in navigating their life - thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behavior. I meet clients where they are spiritually, emotionally, and physically to come alongside them in their journey to wholeness. Clients can request faith-based counseling during their initial consultation.
